So easy anyone can do it. Unless it doesn't work.
Launch Virtual PC. On the Windows desktop there should be a shortcut for MBC Reprodesk. Double-click it. (Think about adding Reprodesk to your Windows startup items. I have already done this, so if you're at my desk, just wait.)
There are three steps to follow in Reprodesk: 1) Add Files, 2) Process, 3) Send Job. Each has a button on the Reprodesk toolbar. Details of each follow.
1. Click 'Add Files'.
In the Open dialog, navigate to My Computer\\1 Projects on 1 Projects(Z:). This is the Hotel. If you don't see this item, or it's empty, you must restart the PC (not the Mac.) Use Restart on the Control menu, or 'Shut Down' at the Windows start button.
Navigate to your project, plot archive, and dated folder. Ctrl+A (not Command!) to Select All, then Open. If Ctrl+A does nothing, click in the file list area once and try again. The files will appear in the Reprodesk window. If there are any files in there you don't want to plot, click the radio button to the left of the name to deselect it.
2. Click 'Process'.
There's some eye candy as each file is done, and the plots in the list should each get a green check. If there are question marks or generic file icons, this means the plots are bad and need to plotted over.
3. Click 'Send Job'.
OK the box. A form will appear. Some of it will be filled in already. Fields with bold titles are required. Fill in the project name and the due date/time. Put the proper number in the Additional Set Count field. Fill in the Job Instructions as you like; I always put the total set count in there. If you want a confirmation email, check the box at the end of the form, and make sure you put your email address at the top. Click 'Submit'. Wait for the next form to load, check it, then click 'Send Job'.
A successful send goes like this: A status box will go thru some steps about connecting, then display percentage progress as the job sent. Note that for small jobs this can be very fast. The box then disappears, leaving you with the Reprodesk window.
An unsuccessful send will result in an error message with needs to be dismissed. In other words: if you look away, look back, and see just the window, everything is OK. If there's an error, you have an error.
Everyone but Samantha uses VPC only for Reprodesk. If you're not Samantha, you must quit VPC when you're done with Reprodesk. Choose Quit from the File menu or type Cmd-Q (duh). You will be prompted to choose whether to save the state of the PC or to shut the PC down. Saving the state is nice, because it speeds up launching VPC the next time. However, opening from a saved state seems to break the connection to the Hotel, forcing you to restart anyway. So shut down.
