On Land

Environment Information
At Rill Architects we run ArchiCAD on macOS. If you work at Rill, this is your stuff. If you don't, but you work in ArchiCAD, you may find something interesting. Anybody else, I don't know.

Send PLT files to the plotter using PlotFlow. Some day, we will be able to run it on the server. Currently, everyone has to run it locally.

What PlotFlow Is

PlotFlow is an application whose sole function is to send PLT files to the plotter. It watches your PlotFlow Spool folder. When it sees a PLT in there, it sends it over, then deletes it. It resides in your Archicad folder, in the PlotFlow Folder. Keep it on the dock.

PlotFlow Configuration

In PlotFlow, go to File : Configure. Stop the queue if prompted.

For the port, use TCP/IP. Setup the address as 192.168.1.11, port 9100.

Check the 'Get Files automatically from:' box. Set the path by clicking 'Select'. I recommend using a folder called 'PlotFlow Spool' next to your spool folder.

Close the configuration box and start the queue from the File Menu.

Every time you launch PlotFlow, you will need to start the queue.

PlotFlow is now ready to go.

Plotter Alias Setup

In the Finder, drag the PlotFlow Spool folder to the toolbar.

You can also place an alias in the sidebar, the dock, or the desktop.

Plotting

Make sure PlotFlow is running and the queue is started. Drag the PLT files to the plotter icon. (You can, of course, drag PLTs directly to the folder and skip the alias.) The light on the plotter itself should begin to blink.

To summarize:
PlotFlow needs to be running and responsive.
It needs to be configured properly with the plotter address and the PlotFlow Spool path.
The queue needs to be started.
The alias to the PlotFlow Spool folder needs be correct.
